But even the most sceptical pundits have been forced to admit the Brazilian looks a different man in Conte’s back three.
And Luiz insists he has returned to west London a better footballer, with his time in the French capital helping to broaden his horizons and expand the limits of his game.
Asked if he was performing at a higher level during his second Chelsea spell, Luiz said: “Yes, if not that means I am going the wrong way.
